Do I Have to Update My Will?

You should review your will from time to time to determine whether your will still applies for the circumstances in your life. It is important to update your will so you can ensure that at the time of your passing, your assets are appropriately distributed to the beneficiaries that you wish to have. Certain changes in your life that are major events may impact what your will should say and what you would like it to reflect. Some of these circumstances include a marriage or divorce, the birth or adoption of a child and any purchase or inheritance of a valuable asset that you may want your beneficiaries to have after you pass away.

When you update your will, it would be beneficial to contact the executor of your estate as well as your attorney to inform them of these changes. It is up to you whether or not you wish to notify the beneficiaries of the changes to your will. If you determine that your will needs to be updated, we are more than happy to assist you in reviewing your current will and let you know how we can assist you in changing your will.
