What Should I Know About Working with A Realtor?

When you decide to buy or sell a home, there’s a chance you have considered enlisting the help of a real estate agent. Real estate agents can help guide you through the process of buying or selling a home, which can be especially helpful if you have never made a real estate transaction before. There are several different things that both buyers and sellers should know about working with a realtor.

For Buyers

Your real estate agent has certain duties that include:

  • promoting your best interests

  • provide you with all facts that could impact your final decision

  • help you find a property

  • help you prepare and submit an offer to the seller when you find a property you wish to purchase

  • follow any instructions you give them

  • be loyal to you

For Sellers

If you choose to work with a real estate agent to sell your home, your realtor has the responsibility to:

  • create a listing agreement for you to sign

  • be loyal to you

  • help you market your home

  • help you price your home

  • negotiate the best possible price

  • promote your best interests

It is important to note that you may have to sign a contract to work with the realtor. If you have any questions about the legal aspects of buying a home, contact our firm today.
